Snake Slots: reviews and honest cautions
The snake game has slithered into the casino world. Here we review the two slots that borrow most directly from it, Relax Gaming's Snake Arena and Snake Arena 2, and explain, without any hype, what you should understand before spinning anything for real money.
Before you read on
This page is information and opinion only. SnakeGame.org.uk is not a casino, does not offer real-money gambling, takes no bets and hosts no slot games. Real-money slots are age-restricted (18+ in the UK) and should only ever be played with a licensed operator regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.
From Nokia screens to casino reels
It was only a matter of time before someone put a snake on a slot machine. In early 2020, Malta-based studio Relax Gaming released Snake Arena, a 5x5 slot whose free spins round literally plays out like a round of snake: a serpent slides across the grid, grows as it catches knights, and the bonus ends when it blocks its own path. In November 2025 the sequel, Snake Arena 2, arrived with a futuristic arena and a 50,000x max win.
As lifelong snake game fans we find the crossover genuinely clever, and as a site read by players of all ages we want to be equally clear about the other half of the story: these are real-money gambling products, not video games, and they follow casino mathematics, not arcade mathematics. Both halves get equal weight on this page.

RTP can be configured lower by individual casinos in some markets (Snake Arena runs at 90% in Germany, and Snake Arena 2 ships in reduced 94% and 86% builds). Always check the paytable inside the game at your casino before playing.
How a "snake game slot" actually works
Despite the familiar theme, nothing in either slot responds to skill. You do not steer the snake. In Snake Arena's bonus, the snake's path, the knights' positions and every outcome are decided by a certified random number generator; the snake animation is a presentation layer over a normal slot calculation. The same applies to the sequel. If you enjoy the snake theme because you are good at snake, be aware that talent is worth exactly nothing on the reels. That is not a criticism of the games, which are well made; it is the defining difference between a video game and a gambling product.
Cautions: read this before you play any slot
Slots are designed to make a profit from you
Every slot, including the Snake Arena games, has a built-in mathematical edge for the house. An RTP of 96.25% means that, averaged over millions of spins, the game keeps about 3.75% of everything wagered. No pattern, timing, stake size or "strategy" changes that. Nothing you learned playing our free snake games transfers to a slot: slots are pure chance, with no skill element at all.
- High volatility means long losing streaks. Both Snake Arena slots are high volatility games. Most sessions lose, sometimes quickly, and the headline max win figures are extreme rarities.
- Decide a loss limit before you deposit and treat it as spent entertainment money, never as an investment or a way to make income.
- Never chase losses. The next spin is independent of the last one. A slot is never "due" a payout.
- Use the tools. UK-licensed casinos must offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. Set limits when you sign up, not after a bad night.
- Play the free demo first. Both games can be tried in demo mode on the official Relax Gaming site without staking anything.
- Under 18? Real-money slots are illegal for you in the UK. Stick to our genuinely free snake games instead.
