2 Player Snake
One keyboard, two snakes, zero friendship. Player 1 takes WASD, Player 2 takes the arrow keys, and the first to three round wins takes the match.
Keyboard: ↑↓←→ or WASD to steer, P pause, R restart, M mute. Touch: swipe or d-pad.
Snake as a duel
Two player snake goes back to the genre's actual roots: 1976's Blockade was a two player game before solo snake even existed. Our duel mode puts both snakes on one board and one keyboard. Player 1 steers the dark snake with WASD from the left side; Player 2 steers the red snake with the arrow keys from the right.
A round ends the moment either snake hits a wall, itself, or the other snake, and the survivor takes the round. Head-on collisions are a draw and nobody scores. First to three rounds wins the match, and the round counters on the device keep the score honest.
Apples matter more than you think
There is food on the board, and every apple makes your snake longer. In a duel, length is territory: a longer snake casts a bigger shadow of forbidden cells across the arena and can wall off entire regions. But length is also liability, because your own tail is one of the three things that can kill you. The strongest duellists eat exactly enough to control the middle, then start herding.
Winning dirty (legally)
- Claim the centre early. The player who owns the middle dictates where the fight happens.
- Cut across their nose. Crossing just in front of your opponent forces an emergency turn, and panicked turns cause self-crashes.
- Shepherd, do not chase. You cannot kill by touching them; you win by leaving them nowhere safe to go. Spiral them toward a corner.
- Watch both snakes. Most rounds are lost to your own tail while staring at your opponent.
